The life sciences industry in Lithuania, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology products and medical devices, has exploded over the last two decades, with 25% in annual growth. In addition, 90% of the products are exported to more than 100 countries around the world.
Enterprise Lithuania is a non-profit agency that promotes entrepreneurship, supports business development and fosters exports from Lithuania. They have been an active player in this success.
According to Daina Kleponė, General Manager of Enterprise Lithuania, “The fields of biotechnology and medical engineering open up great opportunities for the establishment of startups, which offer niche services to bigger companies.” She says that these startups, “…develop innovative technologies or products (that can be) subsequently transferred to international players of the sector.”
Life Sciences Baltics 2018, which took place in Vilnius on September 26th and 27th and was organized by Enterprise Lithuania, is the only international forum in the Baltic region for world-class biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device experts from around the world. The goal of the conference is to bring the Baltic life sciences industry to the forefront and to increase awareness of the region’s incredible talent and potential.
This bi-annual forum gathers Nobel prize winners and more than 1500 scientists, business people, entrepreneurs, startups and students from more than thirty countries. The conference includes educational sessions led by experts in the field, international exhibits, B2B meetings, startup programs and networking events.
Enterprise Lithuania plays an important role in the economic boom of the country and GCE is proud to partner with this dynamic organization for the U.S. Market Entry Masterclass offered later in October.
